Back in Business | Breaking Bad Illustration #3 for the California Literary Review

I was pretty nervous this illustration would be a bust. I knew Walt and Jesse were slated to start cooking again, but I wasn't sure where they'd set up shop or which suits they'd be rocking this time around. We've seen a few variations in labs past, so the only clue I could count on was that these yellow suits had been popping up in recent press photos. (Choosing the glove color was a mini-crisis in and of itself.)

If I settled on the wrong wardrobe, I knew my illustration would feel irrelevant. Random. Out of place. Cautiously, I cut the shapes, colored them yellow, and sent out the final artwork to Paul in California, all before sitting down to watch Episode 3.

Fast forward 30 minutes, and I'm cross-legged on my couch, grinning like an idiot as I watch the dreamlike montage featuring the very bumblebee yellow biohazard suits I banked on. It may sound silly and insignificant, but this Sunday night victory was my best moment all weekend. Devil's in the details, after all.

You can see this illustration posted on the California Literary Review along with a recap for Hazard Pay. Check back next week to see my illustration for Episode 4.
